Client Service and Conservation Design
At Palm & Associates, Inc. we place an emphasis on client service and conservation design. In providing our clients with civil engineering and land surveying services, we offer a comprehensive understanding of land use, roadways, stormwater management, sewers, utilities, site details, and local/state regulations to create residential subdivisions, apartment complexes, commercial/business sites, industrial subdivisions, and planned unit developments. We also make the necessary submittals and presentations to the appropriate agencies and municipalities when seeking the approvals for zoning, variances, platting, and site construction plans.
In recent years, Palm & Associates has focused on conservation designs for subdivisions and planned unit developments. In conservation design, we take our lead from Mother Nature letting the contours, features, and composition of the land dictate the ultimate design of the project. Over the years, we have learned that a conservation design philosophy, once reserved for only the most exclusive of projects, can be applied with the same expertise to higher density projects as well. Ultimately, by applying civil engineering using green technology we can enhance the environmental strength of a project, lower construction costs for the client, reduce the area of construction impact, and improve the project's natural resources. Our conservation design projects have included diverse terrains ranging from Lake Michigan dunes to Indiana orchards.
In 2003 our approach to conservation design was validated when the Harrison West development in Valparaiso was awarded the Indiana Governor's Award for excellence in land use.
